A whole heap of new beginnings…

Never a family to do things by half, we thought we’d throw four major new elements into our already pretty full life! But that tends to be how we roll, it just kinda happens that way. Always has. We accept what the universe has to offer us even if it’s not always clear why. Always undoubtedly though through every experience, adventure or new found path, there lay some deep learnings in this life-long journey of evolvement.

So without further ado, and in no particular order we have great joy in sharing with you our four big new beginnings which are happening for us right now:

We’re having a baby!

12 week baby scan picture

It was a nearly 8 years ago that our last baby arrived to share our world, and nearly 12 years ago that our big boy was born. You can imagine our surprise and joy of finding out that we have another little bun baking away!

We’re so excited to meet our new little one when they arrive in spring and share our love and life with them. In the meantime we’ll be spending our first winter in England for a long time, snuggling down and preparing for our next adventures happening in 2025.

There is plenty of work to do meanwhile, as we now have our next new beginning firmly in our grasp.

We have a new Overland camper!

Rusty’s new colours

We were super sad to say goodbye to our former self- build motorhome; Hector, last week as he went off to find new adventures with his new owner. We had Hector for 13 years, had many a journey, made two children and had four dogs. Plus we lived in him full-time for some time. We reluctantly knew the time had come when we had outgrown Hector and we would need to source and make a new camper that would take our family forward into the future with more space, off road capability and fixed beds for all. Read how we came across our new overland truck and started the build here.

Rusty is the name we’ve given to our new overland motorhome. Not because he’s rusty btw but because we liked the name! He’s a Mercedes 1113 former firetruck and now having removed the fire body, upgraded the wheels, extended the chassis, built a new body and given him a new colour palette, we’re ready to start the exciting phase: the internal build! Playing with layouts, colour schemes, exploring materials and functional products has been so much fun. But now we’re actually going to start making it happen! That there is the super exciting part. If you’re interested, we’ll keep you updated on the build here or on instagram. But just to get a flavour of where we’re going with it; it’s going to have four fixed beds, two lounge/diners, a kitchen, bathroom, a compost loo, all in a 70s modern style. We can’t wait to share the process of the build! One thing is for sure is that this camper will need to be puppy proof, since…

We have a new puppy!

Our Peaches and Cream

Peaches is the little girl that has increased our little pack of springer spaniels back up to a magic three! She’s as sweet as a peach, super loyal, loving and full of tail-wagging, fun spaniel energy. She’s fitted in perfectly under the guidance of our wise old owl Barney and our energetic ball-obsessed Lenny. They’ve accepted her into the fold and the kids are enjoying having another little one to play with and snuggle up to.

While it’s impossible for her to fill the boots of our Lola, she’s definitely bringing all the cute and cuddly vibes possible to help make the loss of our much loved Lollypops less hard to bear.

A new puppy, early pregnancy lethargy and work on the new rig paused our other new project for a little while. Back to full charge; it’s back in full swing:

We have a new project!

RogueTortoise

What began as a celebration of alternative living has turned into a vanlife brand with an online store for conscious and sustainable van-ware, apparel and a celebration of local art and creativity through travel. Check it out. We hope you like it and maybe even find something that takes your fancy. We love to collaborate with creatives so if you would like your work to be included in our site, please do get in touch.

The site was created so we could run a small business alongside a lifestyle that we fully believe in and live ourselves. To focus on sustainability as a global concern and also to elevate amazing creatives and artists along the way. New stock will be added regularly and new work by artists and creatives offered quarterly so keep checking back to see new drops as they happen.

All in all, it’s a busy time for the FamiLee. Add in some work, home schooling and winterising and it’s no wonder our feet haven’t had much time to touch the ground! We’re super positive and excited about all our new beginnings and how the future will unfold.

Thanks for reading. Big love xxxx

Three is the magic number
